Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philippines, promised that as the country celebrated the holidays, Filipinos’ lives were “safer and more comfortable”.
“As your President, I will put food on the table; create more jobs; make our people feel more secure, more comfortable,” Duterte said in his Christmas message.
The President stated that the Government remained committed to bringing lasting peace to the country, one of his campaign commitments.
“Peace is still one of my main forces of governance, we go further in the government, for all to provide an olive branch of peace.
He said that the true nature of Christmas Christmas is built on peace and generosity.
He added that this was “a season of giving and sharing”, especially for the poor and marginalized groups.
“Our celebration of Christmas is the longest in the world, and we Filipinos are a peace-loving country, and Christmas is also a season of giving and sharing,” he said.
“This wonderful feeling is seen in the faces of our hopeful children, reflected in the hearts of our loving and happy family members and friends.
The Chief Executive urges Filipinos to join the government to build lasting peace and make progress in the Philippines.
“Christmas this year will provide inspiration for the achievement of lasting peace and national inclusive economic growth, and we join hands in creating a peaceful and progressive Philippines.
