After drawing negative feedback from moviegoers, it looks like Disney has decided to remove the “Frozen” featurette being screened before “Coco”.

“Olaf’s Frozen Adventure”, the 22-minute short film which has been playing before the start of the new Disney/Pixar movie, will no longer play in theatres starting on Friday, several sources said in a report by Mashable. The resulting excess time will be allotted to hold extra screenings of the main film.

But in a separate report by Entertainment Weekly, it stated that Disney simply planned the short to have a limited run, and that run has its last day on Dec. 7. No comment from the company has been released as of this writing.

The new “Frozen” short film irked some netizens mainly due to its running time and for various other reasons – some disliked the songs while diehard Pixar fans commented that Pixar movies should strictly carry Pixar shorts instead of Disney promos. Previous featurettes such as “Piper” (featured before “Finding Dory”) and “Lou” (in Cars 3) were all by Pixar and have not lasted more than ten minutes.

Disney previously announced that Anna, Elsa and the rest of the “Frozen” gang will return to theatres in November 2019.
