Crane hits tunnel ceiling at CTE entrance, man arrested and investigations ongoing

SINGAPORE – A crane struck the ceiling of the Central Expressway (CTE) tunnel on Monday (Dec 5) afternoon.

The accident, which happened at the slip road of Upper Cross Street, caused the entrance of the CTE tunnel towards Seletar Expressway to be closed off.

The incident caused a jam, with vehicles snaking back along Havelock Road.

The Straits Times understands that no one was injured, and no vehicle other than the crane was damaged. Police are still on the scene, and the incident is ongoing.

Police were alerted to the accident at 1.07pm. A 63-year-old man was arrested in relation to the case, and investigations are ongoing.
