British rock band Coldplay is on the way to making the top-10 list of highest grossing tours of all time, thanks to its current concert tour, A Head Full of Dreams.
Scheduled to wrap in October at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, the A Head Full of Dreams Tour is projected to hit US$500 million (S$694 million) in ticket sales, according to gross averages from ticket sales data as reported by Billboard Boxscore.
Current ticket sales stand at $308 million, thanks to 68 sold-out performances around the globe. The tour began on March 31, 2016 in Argentina, and more than 3.1 million fans have seen the show.
Topping the list of highest-grossing tours of all time is U2 with the 2009-2011 360° Tour, which grossed $736 million, and number 10 on the list is The Rolling Stones’ tour, Voodoo Lounge, with $320 million in sales. Coldplay is projected to land halfway on the list.
Singapore currently holds the title for this tour’s most profitable two-night stint, with $12.5 million earned from 102,508 tickets sold.
