To capture a photo this picturesque, some tourists went to great lengths.
Chinese tourists were photographed grabbing branches and climbing Japan’s iconic cherry blossom trees just to snap photos of blossom petals as it rained on them.
However their actions caused most of the tree branches to break, leaving a mess of pink petals scattered on the road.
Japanese media mocked the Chinese tourists’ behaviour as “Chinese-style flower viewing” and also recommended that a special zone be set up just for Chinese tourists, NetEase reports.

Chinese netizens, on the other hand, took to social media to shame their countrymen.
“Our fellow compatriots are still really amazing, before they would just lose face inside the country, now they know to go abroad,” one netizen joked.
He said this in reference to an incident that happened last month where Chinese tourists were caught climbing Nanjing’s famous cherry blossom trees to take pictures.
“I don’t know how you can look. I look and I feel ashamed, disgusted by this group of uncivilized bastards,” expressed another netizen.
These Chinese tourists had been visiting Japan during its cherry blossom festival which typically lasts from the middle of March to the start of April every year.
