The Chinese military has recently released a recruitment video that could very well be cooler than Descendants of the Sun – or at least it tries to be.
“Kill, kill, kill!” goes the lyrics of the chorus in the video, titled Battle Declaration, that is aimed at appealing to the younger generation of potential soldiers.
At the beginning of the three-minute long video released by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), a soldier dresses up and looks smart in his uniform.
The voiceover then says in Mandarin: “There will always be missions in your mind, enemies in your eyes, responsibilities on your shoulders and passion in your breast. Are you ready?”
As the video progresses, a fast beat rap kicks in, showing different high action fight scenes of the Chinese army on the battleground.
The state media reported that China’s latest military hardware is also featured in the video, including its only aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, along with J-11 fighter jets, Type-99A tanks and DF-11 ballistic missiles.

But behind the cool scenes of the PLA’s latest video, the recruitment drive aims to convey a serious message, according to Colonel Wu Qian, a spokesman of China’s Defense Ministry.
He said: “A man’s youth is not only about being cool, but also about being responsible for the nation and its security.”
However, some people in China seem to doubt the authencity of the video after seeing it, according to Telegraph.
On Sina Weibo, one user said: “This is so weird. There are so many computer generated images and scenes from old television series in the three minutes.”

And can this video recruit a macho Song Joong Ki or his fellow co-stars?
Well, it might be better if more shirtless young men were featured. Just saying.
