The attention of the world are trained on celebrities whenever they attend a red carpet event, dressed to the nines and looking their elegant best.
But one Chinese actress probably wishes there were fewer eyes on her at a recent premiere, where she tripped over her own gown and fell to her knees in full public view.
The actress, who has been identified by Chinese media outlets as Liang Jingke, was attending the premiere of the film “The Light Between Oceans” on Thursday (Sep 1).
Wearing a strapless emerald gown and black peep-toe stilettos, she had her heel caught in the gown’s long train, causing her to trip and fall, Mail Online reported.
Thankfully, two male companions were able to grab a hold of her before things got worse, and helped her up to her feet.
But it was too late for her clutch bag, the contents of which spilled out onto the carpet, and photographers and journalists around her clicked away on their cameras.
The star looked aghast before eventually laughing off the fall gracefully. She then quickly regained her elegant demeanour and smiled for the cameras.
In its article, Mail Online had initially identified the woman as South Korean actress Moon So-ri, who is a member of the jury at the festival. However, Korean publication Korea Times pointed out that Moon had walked the red carpet in a simple black dress.
Liang is far from the first star to suffer a slip while gracing the red carpet.
Last year, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing lost her balance while going down the stairs at a red carpet event, but was prevented from falling by her boyfriend, actor Li Chen.
More famously, Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence took a plunge at the 2013 Academy Awards as she made her way onto the stage to accept the Best Actress award.
