SINGAPORE – Qoo10, Asia’s leading online marketplace, announced on Monday (Aug 15) that it has appointed MediaCorp celebrity Carrie Wong as the company’s brand ambassador in Singapore.
The year-long partnership will see Carrie appearing in Qoo10’s marketing channels across out-of-home (OOH), print, online and social, as an integral part of the corporate identity.
“Carrie is a talented artiste and an outstanding individual. Her ability to excel at everything she does at such a young age makes her an inspiration for many and a perfect fit for this role,” said Lee Hoon Young, general manager of Qoo10 Singapore.
“With her energetic personality and passion, I believe she is capable of bringing Qoo10’s brand story to life and resonating with consumers in Singapore, a country that remains a key growth market for us.”
Carrie Wong said: “I am thrilled to work with Qoo10 as the brand ambassador, the very first in its history.”
“Growing up as an avid online shopper myself, I am impressed with the wide variety of product and service offerings available and the ease of shopping made possible by Qoo10, truly a one-stop marketplace to satisfy the everyday needs and wants of consumers. I am looking forward to sharing its story and allowing many more to live the Qoo-ler way,” she added.
Riding on the accelerating popularity of online shopping among Singaporean consumers, coupled with the nation’s well-established payment and logistics infrastructure, Qoo10 has garnered strong year-on-year business growth.
Since 2013, its user base has been expanding at the rate of more than 400,000 every year. To date, Qoo10 has a total of 2.2 million registered shoppers, making it the largest online marketplace in Singapore.
In 2015, Qoo10 achieved an all-time high revenue of $312 million and completed close to 15 million transactions.
As an effort to further enhance consumer engagement and shopping experience, Qoo10 Singapore has recently launched MasterPass TM, which makes mobile shopping seamless. MasterCard’s global digital payments platform currently accounts for 50 per cent of total transactions at Qoo10.
With the In-App payments, consumers can easily ‘connect’ their MasterPass wallet with a merchant and complete a purchase in one click.
