May the Fourth, the official “holiday” dedicated to the Star Wars franchise, brings Jedis young and old together to celebrate the galaxy far, far away.
Since her death last December, the films’ fearless princess Carrie Fisher has been missed and honoured by fans across the globe.
To celebrate her mother’s beloved character and pay tribute to everyone’s favourite galactic warrior on this special day, Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd shared a heartbreaking photo on Instagram of herself in the arms of her late mother, accompanied by Chewbacca behind them.
She captioned the throwback pic with the “May the 4th be with you” hashtag.
Just last month at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Lourd kept her mother’s memory alive by wearing a custom-made Tom Ford dress inspired by Fisher’s iconic Princess Leia outfit, and delivering a touching, tear-inducing eulogy to the crowd.
May the force be with Princess Leia in her new galaxy.
We hope she’s celebrating today with buns in her hair and a lightsaber in her hand.
