SINGAPORE: Two lanes at Upper Serangoon Road were closed due to “urgent pipe repair works” on Monday (Oct 30) morning, said Singapore’s national water agency, PUB.
In a Facebook update at 11.38am, PUB said that it had received a report on a pipe leak at Upper Serangoon Road at about 2am on Monday and “immediately sent our service crew and contractors to the site”.
The leak was “isolated” at 8.45am, and water supply to customers was not affected, PUB said.
Pipe repair works are underway, PUB said, adding that two out of three lanes at Upper Serangoon Road (towards Sengkang/Hougang) after Braddell Road have been temporarily closed to facilitate repairs.
The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the day, PUB said.
In an earlier tweet at 5.05am, PUB had said that all lanes towards Sengkang and Hougang were closed after Braddell Road and advised motorists to consider alternative routes.
According to the Singapore Police Force, an underground water pipe had burst along Upper Serangoon Road, forcing the road closure after the junction of Wolskel Road.
SBS Transit said bus services 100, 107, 133, 135, 147 and 153 had been diverted along Upper Serangoon road towards Hougang, “due to urgent road works in process”.
In an update at 8.31am, PUB said one out of three lanes had been opened to traffic, adding that motorists were advised to consider alternative routes.
