PETALING JAYA – Air Asia boss Tan Sri Tony Fernandes is known to be very active on social media but guests attending his hush-hush wedding party were told not to share the event.
Even the wedding invitations did not print the full names of the couple, except “Tony and Chloe.”
Guests were constantly reminded to respect the couple’s wish to keep the event private.
But the extrovert businessman woke up the next day from the party to find that pictures had gone viral on social media.
The sun-dappled wedding was said to have taken place in Cote d’Azur, France.
In the sea-facing snapshot, Fernandes, 53, looked dapper in a three-piece suit with blue accents, while his bride was as pretty as a picture in an off-shoulder white gown with a long train.
Chloe, an actress in her early 30s, held a bouquet of white roses and ferns, with the groom sporting a boutonniere of the same bloom.
The wedding and dinner was attended by family members, close friends and AirAsia’s top officials.
CIMB Group chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak was the best man.
Among the guests who attended the ceremony were AirAsia chairman and Tune Group chief executive Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam.
The guests were feted with a string of performances by Philip Bailey, lead singer of Earth, Wind and Fire, singer Stephen Bishop and violinist Caroline Campbell.
