PUTRAJAYA – When singer-songwriter Yuna first arrived on the set of a commercial after a 16-hour flight from the United States back in 2013, she was ready to call off the shoot.
Then, she met assistant director Adam Sinclair.
“I remember feeling moody and I didn’t want to do the shoot anymore. Then Adam made me feel comfortable and safe.
“He kept checking on me, to make sure I’ve had something to eat,” she said during a press conference here, yesterday.
Yuna, 31, was moved by 33-year-old Adam’s kindness and that’s when she set her heart on him.
Luckily for her, the feeling is mutual.
“I’ve never met a personality or talent that has such a big heart like Yuna.
“She was very caring and attentive towards everyone else on our set that day. She kept saying that she’ll get her scenes done in two takes so everyone doesn’t have to stay long,” Adam said.
At the end of the 14-hour shoot, the pair maintained a close friendship.
They became husband and wife at a private solemnisation ceremony in Bentong, Pahang, on Friday.
“The ceremony was beautiful. It was everything that I’ve imagined. I’ve always wanted a garden-style wedding.
“I remember feeling nervous when we had to delay the ceremony because of the rain. But thankfully, everything went well,” she said.
Yuna who is based in Los Angeles as an artiste signed to David Foster’s Verve Records, is prepared to maintain a long-distance relationship with her husband.
Adam will stay in Malaysia where he will continue to work as a video director.
“I’ve been working in LA for almost eight years now. All this while, I’ve always travelled back and forth between Malaysia and US.
“It’s not going to be easy to deal with the distance but we’re going to be okay,” Yuna said.
Adam said they have always stayed connected via Skype and WhatsApp.
After their wedding reception, Yuna will return to Los Angeles to focus on the release of her upcoming album.
She will then embark on an international tour to promote the album.
