Making money out of printing clothes with images of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej or the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang is not illegal, but certainly inappropriate, said a police spokesman.

Those wished to do so should ask permission from authorities concerned, said police spokesman Pol General Wirachai Songmetta on Thursday.

“The acts are improper although they are not against the laws”, he said. “People should not support their products.”

Wirachai’s warning came as clothing and other items with images of the late King and the Royal Crematorium became easily available on the streets.

Wirachai also warned that use of copyrighted photos or paintings is against the laws and offenders run the risk of being sued by those holding the rights.
