SINGAPORE – If you think the Pokemon Go craze in Singapore is bad, wait till you watch this.
A Facebook video showing a stampede in Taipei has been making its rounds online, with the purported cause for the panic being Snorlax, a relatively rare sighting in the Pokemon Go game.
In the 22-second clip, thousands of people can be seen charging towards one direction in what looks like the Taiwanese capital’s Xinbeitou district.
The Facebook user who uploaded the clip on Saturday (Aug 20) called the area “Snorlax central”.
According to a report on Time, Xinbeitou has become such a popular spot for Pokemon players looking to catch Snorlax that reinforcements from the civil defence force and police are in place.
Similarly in Singapore, police patrols have been stepped up in Pokemon Go hotspot Hougang, where scores of players reportedly dashed across a road on Aug 10 to catch Snorlax without checking for oncoming traffic.
Residents there have also complained of having their sleep disrupted and illegal parking, among other problems.
