SINGAPORE: The Rising Together Baton Run, which was held to promote the Aug 19-21 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games and 9th Asean Para Games, has ended in Singapore Saturday.
The Baton Run, covering all countries taking part in the games, ended with Singapore para-athlete Yip Pin Xiu handing over the baton to the island republic’s Minister of Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu.
Fu then handed the baton to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Khairy, accompanied by a group of Malaysian delegates, travelled by train to Johor Baru to launch the Torch Run which will pass through the city centre and 13 states in Malaysia as well as Labuan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
About 40,000 athletes from 10 countries in Asean took part in the baton run which started in Brunei on March 5.
