Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin’s latest TV drama My Dear Boy was removed from Tencent streaming platform in China after showing only two episodes, Oriental Daily reported.
It was removed because it was deemed as “advocating Taiwan independence”.
The TV drama was produced with the financial support of Tw$20mil (S$904,000) from Taiwan’s Culture Ministry.
Lin was the producer and the leading actress of the drama.
Later in a statement, the actress confirmed that her production studio had received funding from Taiwan’s Culture Ministry.
However, she said that the acceptance of financial support does not mean that she supported Taiwan’s independence.
