SINGAPORE – The eigth edition of annual lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) gathering Pink Dot will be held at the Speakers’ Corner at Hong Lim Park on June 4.

In a statement on Thursday (April 21), Pink Dot spokesperson Paerin Choa explained that this year’s rally represents a renewed push towards fostering an inclusive society in Singapore.

In the past four years, the gathering has been held at night, with participants lighting up the park in a sea of pink with torches and light sticks.

But this year’s event will be held in the day time, and Singaporean and permanent resident participants will instead be given placards to pen down their messages of support.

Before the rally, familiar activities, including the iconic Pink Dot concert, community tent and community voices will still be held to inform attendees about LGBT issues.

Pink Dot also revealed that this year’s gathering will see the largest-ever turn out of corporate support, with a total of 18 corporate sponsors, including companies such as Google, Barclays, Twitter, Facebook and Apple.
