The Philippines hopes that the codes of conduct of Southeast Asian countries and China in the disputed South China Sea will be completed by the middle of this year, its foreign minister said Wednesday.
“Even if we speak, we continue discussions with our senior officials, below the ministerial level, that these negotiations are going on,” Foreign Minister Yasai said at a news conference.
“That’s why we hope we can develop a code of conduct by the middle of 2017.” The code of conduct has been working since 2002 and has been suffering from delays that Yasay calls “intervention” Of the advance.
