The sad day has finally come – local radio station Lush99.5FM is closing down.

In a Facebook post, the Mediacorp station said it “will be stopping transmission on 31st August at 1159pm after 13 years.”

They said they have not managed to grow their base of listeners enough to sustain operating costs of the station, despite having a loyal core of followers.

They will still support local music with the Singapore Sounds project where other radio stations at Mediacorp – 987 and 938LIVE – will feature local music, artists and gigs, as well as 8days.sg.

Back in 2015, Lush started a campaign to save their station with the hashtag #iListenToLush.

Unfortunately, it’s been too little to save it. Goodbye Lush, you were great while you lasted.
