FANS of Taiwanese pop king Jay Chou were cheated of RM95,000 (S$32,930) when they bought tickets to his Kuala Lumpur concert through a man they met online, reported major Chinese dailies.

China Press reported although the tickets had sold out within hours after going on sale, the fraudster had claimed he could still get them some.

Sentul police chief ACP R. Munusamy said that two agents, who represented 76 fans, had lodged police reports.

The mother of the suspect had also lodged a police report on the same day, stating that she had nothing to do with the case.

The two agents got to know the suspect through the social media network Weibo, and had transferred money for the tickets to the his account.

They realised something was amiss when the suspect failed to deliver the tickets, it reported.
