Seohyun of Girls’ Generation took to social media to share her candid thoughts about having left her longtime agency S.M. Entertainment last month.
The singer-turned-actress wrote a lengthy letter Friday night on Instagram, where she revealed the reason for parting with the group and her future plans.
“I’ve finally made the difficult decision to leave the group after countless contemplations and worrying. My heart is filled with gratitude to (S.M. Entertainment CEO) Lee Soo-man, who allowed an ordinary 12-year-old girl to live a new life as Seohyun of Girls’ Generation,” she wrote.
“And after 10 years, we (the band) have come to understand and respect that we could have prospects for our future that could differ from each other’s.”
Seohyun also wrote that she has decided to embark on a new challenge to live the life of singer, actress and as Seo Ju-hyun. She expressed support for her family-like bandmates, saying, “I’ll always try my best to be with members whenever I’m needed as a part of Girls’ Generation in the future.”
Having debuted as part of Girls’ Generation, Seohyun left the agency last month alongside Tiffany and Sooyoung after their contracts expired with the agency. Seohyun is currently starring in MBC drama series “Bad Thief, Good Thief.”
