Theatre aficionados, you might want to keep your schedules clear in February next year.

The iconic musical, Evita, will be making its Asian debut in Singapore as part of its international tour in 2018.

Winner of over 20 major awards, the original West End and Broadway production by Tim Rice and theatre heavyweight Andew Lloyd Webber will premiere at The Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands on Feb 23, 2018.

Evita tells the rags-to-riches story of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of her country after marrying military leader-turned-president Juan Peron.

The musical follows Eva Duarte Perón on her passionate and tragic journey from her humble beginnings as a fatherless child, to ambitious actress, to the most powerful woman in Latin America,

The production originally opened at the Prince Edward Theatre London in 1978 and ran for a record-breaking eight years.

It later went on to win 20 major awards including two Olivier awards and seven Tony Awards, which recognises outstanding achievements in Broadway productions.

The pairing of Tim Rice’s lyrics and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music has resulted in some of the most popular and well-loved songs in musical theatre, including the iconic tune ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’.

For a strictly limited season only, this new international production stars Emma Kingston (Les Miserables in London’s West End) as Eva Peron, South African musical star Jonathan Roxmouth (The Phantom of the Opera) who will perform the role of Che and playing Peron is Robert Finlayson (The Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon in the West End).

Tickets are on sale via Sistic and Marina Bay Sands ticketing starting at $55.
