SINGAPORE – The driver of a car that exploded in Bukit Batok last week has been arrested, police said in a statement yesterday (May 2).
The driver himself was taken to hospital for his injuries from the incident, which happened last Wednesday (April 26) in a multi-storey carpark at Block 290H, Bukit Batok Street 24.
Portable butane gas canisters were found at the scene. Following investigations, police have found the case to be the result of an act of mischief.
The man was charged in court last Saturday (April 29) with causing mischief by fire, and will be remanded for further investigations.
Earlier, citizen journalism website Stomp reported that the car in the explosion was suspected to be a rental car which had “gone missing”.
