The most glamorous weekend is here with the Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 night race revving up our nightlife. With so many events to go to, let’s get to it with our Party Girl recommendations.
The well-known parties that happen only during F1 weekend are back – that’s Amber Lounge and Podium Lounge.
The internationally official F1 after-party Amber Lounge, that takes place by the fountain wall at Millenia Walk, will have a weekend of as much champagne as you can drink. Highlights are its Saturday fashion show with some F1 drivers and models, and both Saturday and Sunday will have Ms ‘Milkshake’ Kelis perform.
Individual passes start at $900 and table bookings start at $8,000.
Podium Lounge, that happens at the Ritz Carlton Singapore, will have three nights of rubbing shoulders with VIPs from Friday. Among the performers are Me & Mrs Jones – who are ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ singer Ms Sophie Ellis-Baxtor and her DJ husband R Richard Jones – Ms ‘American Boy’ Estelle, and making an appearance is Singapore’s very own internationally-known burlesque dancer Ms Sukki Singapora.
General admission is $188 and tables start at $1,488.
Right, now for the clubs that are doing double duty for three nights starting Friday.
Starting with the rooftop places within the F1 circuit is Ce la Vi on top of Marina Bay Sands. It will have a pre-race afternoon BBQ for all three days with music by its resident DJs.
Friday night will have Dutch house DJ Gregor Salto, Saturday night will have US trance DJ Erok – who is also the official DJ of Red Bull Racing – and Sunday night will have Swiss deep house DJ Gil Glaze.
Three-day all-access passes are at $268.
New Asia Bar at the top of Swissotel starts Friday night off with New York City hip hop MC Big Ali, Saturday night has Dutch electronic dance duo New_ID, and Sunday night has its resident DJ Doze.
Standard entry is $50 and tables start at $600.
1-Altitude on the top of One Rafflles Place is having a weekend of female DJs starting with Russian DJ Katty Q on Friday for The Martini Party, then L.A. duo DJ KimKat on Saturday for the Belvedere Party, and monthly resident DJ Adam Sky from Australia for the Heineken Race Day Party.
Entry is $98.
Empire on Level 45 of the Singapore Land Tower is also having a slew of female DJs over the F1 weekend.
Pre-event tickets are $112 and table packages start at $488.
Back to ground level, Bang Bang by the Pan Pacific Hotel will have L.A.’s club hits DJ Sasha Grey on Friday, and Las Vegas’ high-energy DJ Ruckus on Saturday.
Entry is $45.
Baliza on Raffles Boulevard is having a Global Party Series with DJ Kraiz from Illuzion nightclub in Phuket on Friday, DJ Nina from Valkyrie nightclub in Manila on Saturday, and Nexuz from Ibiza and Tomorrowland on Sunday.
Door charge is $100 with party packages starting at $528 and $1,500 for tables.
Speaking of Ibiza, Millian Singapore (at the former St James Powerstation venue) is having an Ibiza F1 weekend with a slew of international DJs who have a connection to Ibiza.
They have already been busy with after-parties this week for the All That Matters conference so the weekend there will be a nice round-off for them.
Three-day passes are $80 at the door, and table packages start at $1,500.
For those into the day-timers, W Hotel Sentosa is having a F1 pool party from 2pm on Saturday. Entry is $35 with one drink.
So Sofitel Singapore is having their F1 Grand Prix pool party from 2pm on Saturday too. Entry is $20 with two drinks.
There will also be free block parties with performances, live bands, DJs and flea markets at these places:
Sunshine Nation will have its Grand Prix edition of their street party on Circular Road on Friday from 7pm.
Keong Saik Road will have its Urban Ventures party from 4pm on Saturday.
And, Zouk is having theirs at Clarke Quay’s fountain area from 2pm as a prelude to the big move over there.
Finally, a new venue is opening this F1 weekend at Orchard called Montreux Jazz Cafe on Claymore Road.
The weekend will see a collective of local DJs doing a selection of ambient, soulful and chillout music.
