AsiaOne on air: Comedy, Garden Beats Festival, hip hop star Fabolous and Chinatown food for 50 cents is what's up this weekend

There are lots to do this weekend and our Party Girl is here to help you pick what to get up to.

First, start your Friday evening off at Tolido’s at Crawford Lane from 8pm with Mr Funny himself – Shaun Tupaz (also producer for the morning show on OneFM).

The theme is Never Go School (just like Shaun) and music is by The Pudgy Busker.

There is also one-for-one beers with every purchase of truffle fries.

Then, kick off Saturday at the Garden Beats Festival from 1pm at Fort Canning Park.

Those into house and electronica music will have a fab time at Volume 2 of this picnic festival.

As well as those looking for a great day out – you can look forward to DJs, live music sets, food, drinks, face paint artists, games, and art installations.

Tickets are $125 at the door but if you get them online and before Saturday, it’s $95.

And, this is getting me all excited.

Also on Saturday, Bang Bang is celebrating its second anniversary, in partnership with Belvedere, and they are having hip hop artist Fabolous perform. Love!

All of this is great including entry at $45 with no drink, but my issue is this – the dress code for men is long pants, button down shirt and shoes, and for women is cocktail attire and heels.

To all the clubs out there, why must you dictate what I wear? If I’m paying entry and drinking in your club all night, I will wear whatever I want.

Of course, dress beautifully and look great, but please don’t dictate to me.

OK, rant over.

And lastly, over Saturday and Sunday, Chinatown Food Street is having The 50 Cents Fest where you can buy some local dishes for 50 cents just like back in the old days.

The street will be decked out to resemble 1950 and 60s Singapore with old-school buskers such as calligraphers and fortune-tellers, and communal activities like movie screenings and opera singers.

If you don’t know, now you know.

To catch the Party Girl, listen to her on OneFM‘s #1 Breakfast Show with Glenn Ong and The Flying Dutchman on Thursday mornings.
