Hong Kong heartthrob Aaron Kwok has reportedly shelled out an eye-watering HK$30 million (S$5.39 million) on a mansion in Shanghai, just days after it was revealed that he is set to marry model Moka Fang in June.
According to Hong Kong’s Next Media, the house is meant to be a wedding present for his soon-to-be wife, and is situated close to the city’s affluent Xintiandi district.
Kwok, 51, bought the property for Shanghai-based Fang, 29, because he feels that their marriage will not greatly change their current lifestyles, Apple Daily reported.
Kwok, who is recognised as one of Hong Kong’s four “heavenly kings”, still expects to be travelling around the world to work on his films. Therefore, Fang will continue to be based in Shanghai, and will only go back to Hong Kong when Kwok goes home as well in between his film projects.

Meanwhile, Next Media also reported that Kwok wants the wedding to be a low-key affair, and had considered registering the marriage overseas in destinations like Las Vegas in the United States or Bhutan.
However, he eventually shelved those plans due to objections from Fang, who wished to register their union in Hong Kong so that she can quickly acquire resident status on the former British colony.
News of Kwok and Fang’s impending nuptials emerged earlier this week, when it was reported that the couple had secretly filed a notice of intended marriage from the Hong Kong government on March 4.
They are expected to be wed by June, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported, with rumours also swirling that Fang may be pregnant.
Kwok and Fang announced their relationship publicly in 2015. She is the only girlfriend he has publicly acknowledged.
