SINGAPORE – A 72-year-old woman has died from dengue, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a joint statement on Saturday (Juy 16).

The woman was admitted to Changi General Hospital on June 22. Her condition deteriorated and she passed away on June 25, the statement said.

This is the sixth reported dengue death in Singapore this year.

The patient lived at Simei Street 1, which was an active 2-case dengue cluster that was notified on June 25.

NEA officers inspected the area, and detected and destroyed one mosquito breeding in a bamboo pole holder at Block 135 Simei Street 1.

The cluster has since closed on July 4.

NEA said it will continue to conduct routine checks to look out for any potential breeding habitats of the dengue mosquito.
